About

Cara is a labor, postpartum and full spectrum doula out of Albany, NY.  She is married and has two children.  Her first child was born by cesarean section and her second child was born by Vaginal Birth After Cesarean.  Both of her children are currently breastfed after several serious setbacks.  She has a degree in Early Childhood Education and attended the WomanCraft School of Midwifery and regularly works with OMAEP, a prenatal NGO, to promote prenatal non-violence at the United Nations. She is also a current member and organizer of the Northeast Full Spectrum Project, a group which provides childbearing services, education and professional development to groups such as LGTBQ families, loss/pregnancy termination families as well as underserved women in need.

About Cara’s Doula Work

Cara has supported families who birth primarily in the hospital, with nearly all of her clients birthing naturally.  However she is open to other birthing scenarios, including midwife-attended home birth, planned inductions and cesareans as well as planned medicated births.  She believes that not every birthing person should have to birth naturally, but that all families do deserve access to evidence based care so they can make informed and healthy decisions.

Why should you hire her?

Cara should be your doula because she is not afraid to give you the information you need to make great choices.  She is honest, open and speaks with candor on the topics of childbirth and the postpartum period.  She knows both the value of informed consent, yet, the importance of loving support in the face of changing plans.
